480 ACRES IN WASHINGTON COUNTY LOCATED IN NORTHEAST KANSAS
Eastern Kansas with its heterogonous native plant communities and row crop landscape coupled with differing annual planting/harvest schedule provide species such as whitetail and turkey with a smörgåsbord of highly palatable food sources. Crops such as wheat, corn and soybeans have been well-documented as preferred food sources. Combined with the early and mid successional habitat found in many areas makes Eastern Kansas is an ideal hunting destination. This property should be no exception.
With over 170 acres of wheat corn and/or beans rotation, this farm provides an excellent forage base. Plus, check out the mid successional habitat in the photos below. The early stage cedars and deciduous trees, in additional to native browse, provide needed protection and cover that will attract deer to this location. The seasonal stream and rolling topography create safe travel lanes and resting areas outside of the crop areas. The wheat, which remains succulent into early winter, is an excellent attractant after the native vegetation is dormant. And, the tree rows provide ingress and egress routes and security during daily foraging sojourns.
This property has two ponds as well. Although I didn’t perform any sampling, Kansas farm ponds can be very good warm-water fishery especially for Sunfish family (Crappie, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Largemouth Bass, Longear Sunfish, Spotted Bass, etc.).
This lease provides 12 months to hunt all legal species. Plus we’ll include at no additional cost $1 million in hunting liability insurance. Outfitters/guides must provide their own additional insurance.
What about the 1.5 year old buck on the fence? He apparently managed to weave his back legs through the 5-wire fence such that he couldn’t escape.
